Safety Switch - Time delay fuse

Post by camotoe » Tue Mar 24, 2020 9:54 am

I'm working on getting power to my 45XP. The book calls for a safety switch with time delay fuse to power off the torch in an emergency. My machine has an emergency stop button already installed.
How important is it to install the safety switch with fuse or can I bypass the safety switch and use the emergency stop button if needed. Does the switch / fuse provide any other function for cnc operation?

The safety switch and fuse will allow you to kill all power to the cutter. An e-stop will just cut the control signal. If a relay stuck and kept the torch on, your e-stop would have no effect. Also, the fuse will protect the wiring from excessive amp draw should something go wrong.
