HotDXF - Hummingbird Flower

[HotDXF]

Hi all! For anyone who has a garden area or wants to make something for the Mrs. here is a Hummingbird design with flowers. I made another variation that is very similar if anyone wants me to post it I will. This one is dimensioned at 17-7/8" x 18". The lines are pretty thin so I don't know how well it will cut once scaled down. I appreciate all the support and helpful feedback from everyone.

Here ist he file with a solid back plate, but onlky 11 circles. you could make it 12, and put a clock mechanism behind it.

Thanks Joe I really appreciate that. I have a true love for making the files. My dream is to be able to do it full time for a living someday. Don't know if I ever will be able to with all the thievery and abundance of bad files out there, but I can always dream. It's sometime very hard to find the time to create and promote the business while working about 50 to 60 hours and week and having two kids who participate in way too many sports.

You could ALSO make it a THERMOMETER ... 20 ... 30 ... 40 ... etc? You just need to know how far the needle moves for every ten degrees of temperature.

If you have two kids into sports, you work a LOT MORE than 50-60 hours per week.

You could ALSO make it a BAROMETER. The mechanisms are all available online.

EDIT: Apparently barometers are sealed units, and thus, you cannot make a custom barometer, but you can INSERT a barometer into another piece of wall art or whatever.

Find the mechanism to turn a large dial according to WEIGHT. Place the scale on the floor, with a wire running up to the face. Then line the dial ... Hummingbird, Chicken, Dog, Horse, Hog, Bull, Elephant, Whale ...

Make another one with an astronomical theme, and use the planets according to size ... Mercury the smallest, Jupiter the largest...

Think OUTSIDE of the box!

When I ran my motorcycle towing service in SoCal, the dealers told me they would not allow independent businesses to "advertise" in the service department, because "Everyone will want their banner or sign on the wall!"

Thinking OUTSIDE of the box, I asked them if they would like a nice clock on the wall. They ALL agreed. I went to Pick-n-Save and bought carts full of large, battery operated clocks. Then I desktop published my company logo in and slogan with the TOLL FREE phone number in COLOR and designed a ROUND shape for it. I went to FedEx/Kinko's and had faces printed to size on THICK white paper. I disassembled the clocks, removed the hands, sprayed the decorative faces with 3M adhesive, and laid my sign over the clock face. I replaced the hands and the glass front, and passed them out to all of the service bays in SoCal. Only ONE of them would not hang my 18" diameter clock on their wall, facing the customer! I hung my clocks in local burger joints, sports bars, auto service center waiting rooms, and wherever else I could think of, where motorcyclists might see and REMEMBER my company logo and number.

No one allowed a SIGN, but nearly ALL of them allowed a CLOCK! The service people LOVED them. "People don't ask me for the TIME anymore!"

That is a great story. Yes thinking outside the box is so crucial. I try to, not always successful, but I try. Especially now, it seems the DXF file market is so oversaturated with so much junk and everyone wants free, free, free even though they may spend a good amount of time cleaning up that free file. I guess they don't realize that time is actually money and they would have been better off spending a couple of bucks getting a clean file from the start. It's the saving a penny while spending a buck mentality that drives me nuts. But hey it was free! I'll get off my soap box now...

A life long friend is a professional photographer. He has so many awards from photography contests, he could cover the wall of his office with the ribbons alone. He was voted Photographer of the Year three separate times at the California Professional Photographer's Association. He used to make good money shooting weddings and other events. He would stage the shots ... family of the bride ... family of the groom ... the parents .. the grandparents, etc. He would make sure there wasn't a hair out of place, or a wrinkle in a garment, and he produced beautiful work. He would charge $7,500.00 for a wedding, and GET IT! He would produce beautiful, rich photo albums with the gold metal edged pages and all of that, the large wall portrait, the 16x20s, the 11x14s, etc., etc., and sell them.

The digital camera age and photoshop was his downfall. People discovered that they could take "okay photos" with their digital cameras. So Jim would set up a shot to SELL, and 20 people would shoot the image over his shoulder with their iPhones. Why PAY for something you got for free?

People got Photoshop, and they discovered how easily you can remove a pimple, or replace a broken tooth, or take 50 pounds off of Aunt Zelda ...

It got to the point where people wanted Jim to shoot the wedding and the reception for $250.00, and hand them a thumb drive with the images on them. They would print them on their own color printers at home. so he stopped shooting weddings and other events.

He focused on product photography for a while, but even that market was destroyed by home computers. Anyone can produce beautiful images with a PC or a MAC, so the professional photography industry is DEAD.

Dang I wish I had that software. I put it through two different software's with no problems...

I was unable to open in Corel or Inkscape but Fusion 360 had no issue.

Just curious what version of DXF file you are exporting it from Corel as?

I just use AutoCAD. I believe I save it down to a 2000 version. I don't use Corel, well I rarely use it. It's a great program I just don't use it very often.
I will be posting a YouTube video on here soon I hope (as soon as I get time) , that shows my process.

It opened as incomplete with CorelDraw and Inkscape won't open dxf r14 format. You could try converting from dxf to svg and then try to open it with the other two programs.
