Re: dodge grill firepit
Awesome fire pit. Being a MOPAR man I will be cutting one of these. What size metal is the slots scaled for. I have cut several out of 3/16 and they are so heavy. I'm thinking of cutting one out of 10 gauge and see how it goes. Again I love it and thanks so much.

Re: dodge grill firepit
Thanks otisa2007. The 3/16 was awful heavy. The use of 10 gauge will lower the weight considerable.

Re: dodge grill firepit
thanks MetalTorcher for the convert to dxf for me little blue choo I've found with all my fire pits the 10 ga is cheaper and lighter than the 3/16 and I've had no customer complaints i also need to show you a picture of the trackless yard train i'm working on

Hey otisa2007, I would love to see your train. I enjoy looking at all the different concepts people come up with. Maybe you can message me sometime with pictures.

Re: dodge grill firepit
Ok, I did some cleanup and made some changes on this one. The converted DXF file showed 92 issues for me (overlaps, open shapes, non-connected lines, etc). In addition, and this is a biggie for me...it wasn't symmetrical. Also, the tabs didn't quite line up with the Jeep firepit I cut today, using file from the OP here:
http://www.plasmaspider.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=19062
This is my "gold standard" Jeep firepit, because the OP in that thread modeled it in Solidworks, and made sure all the slot/tab placement was correct. Huge thanks for that!
Long story short...use this "face" file, with all the other files (bottom, grille, side) from the above Jeep thread, and your sides/bottom/grille should match up perfectly between the two. Should be able to cut the sides/bottom/grille, and just pop on whichever face you like the best (Dodge or Jeep). I haven't cut it yet, but I will tomorrow. Standardization is good.
Ignore the "sheet background" in the image.
