easiest basic file to create..its all just math...to assemble and personalize it is a different story. Pic of file shows assembly..every side of both shapes are equal in length...there is a mathematical relationship between side length and diameter. I blew 26 million brain cells try to compute it.

Re: soccerball firepit
Very cool! Thanks for sharing. Do you know how big it will be fully assembled?

Re: soccerball firepit
i have a request into a high school math teacher to determine a way to do that, im positive there is a formula for it. when i get an answer I'll be sure to
post it

Re: soccerball firepit
I just built a half of soccer ball fire pit. 7" sides on the pentagon and hexagon yielded a 33" wide pit. So in my mind the math would be as follows.
If you wanted a 28" wide pot solve for x.
33/7 = 28/x
x= (7x28)/33
x= 196/33
so x = 5.9
so a 6" sided pentagon and hexagon SHOULD give you a 28" wide pit. I have not built the 6" side pit yet but it should be very close.

Re: soccerball firepit
I posted the long drawn out formula and explanation of the geometry on another post awhile back but here's the simple version:
Diameter times 2 divided by 9.9121 equals side length.
Or you can use an online calculator as the shape is technically a truncated icosahedron.
