Nesting with SheetCam

Post by cutterguy »

Can someone give me some tips on nesting objects with SheetCam? Is is possible to explode dxf files. Say you want to cut letters for the words LUND BOATS. do you need to nest it in a differant program or does SheetCam have these capabilities?

Odd someone has not replied to your post. I personally have found lettering a pain in sheet cam but that is the out put of my software, I use for Autocad, which I have to explode the text in text explode before sheet cam will even load the dxf file and show the lettering, before I can begin the cam process. I spend quite a bit of time trying to clean up the lettering once exploded. I recently noticed that you can add text in sheet cam to your file, but I have not tried to cut a file after it has in included into the drawing. Not sure what you are using for cad software but I am sure some one will chime in and help out. I have thought of trying to find some software that will handle fonts better than autocad.

from what I gather, sheetcam has provisions for manual nesting operations

see page 149 in sheetcam manual
