Sheetcam touch off post - Touch off first cut only

Post by Patriotcustoms »

Hi, I have a candcnc set up with floating head. post in sheet cam is touching off for every cut and is working fine as always. Im cutting a job that each plate is 21" x 4.5" with with 95 holes and i only want to touch off on the first hole as the cycle time is way too long touching off on every hole. the plate is small and doesn't move so touch off on every hole is not necessary. is there a way to do this. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps turn off your thc and set you cut height manually. Unless you are cutting really thin material subject to excessive warping, then you should be fine. Otherwise you may need to modify your post processor to accommodate.

The CandCNC post should have a refDist variable. If you set it to a really big number it shouldn't reference every time. On my system I think it is changed in the post options.

Yes, exactly what I needed refDist. I was able to dial in that number to get the touch off sequence perfect. Thank you so much, I have hundreds of these to cut and this will save me a lot of hrs.

The reference distance is also what I was needing and I got it set like I want but it fires the torch at 2” (rapid travel) instead of the pierce height. Any advice on this?
