Scanything- Sheetcam scanner system

Post by 4x8_Plasma »

I was recently on Sheetcam's website and came across this.

Seems to be a scan program for parts etc.

Anyone currently using this?

I tried it once. It's pretty cool. Just didn't put a lot of time into playing with it.
If you contact Les, the creator of it, he will send you a trial license.

It's very handy for specific usage. It's pretty sensitive/finicky to set up, and requires certain lighting / contrast with the part.

Also, it outputs more of a "point cloud" that still has to be drawn/approximated to a closed/finished vector file. It basically just records hundreds/thousands of coordinate points. You have to connect them into lines, arcs, and other geometry.

I've played with it. Like the others have said, it is finicky to set up, but it will put out a trace. That's as far as I ever got with it, just didn't have the time to pursue any farther.
