nest question

Post by kbenz »

I know the nesting isn't really nesting. I know how to array and duplicate parts. I have not figured out how to rotate them though. also can you add other parts to manually nest? should I just do this in my cad program?

With the part highlighted, just type in a rotational angle in the box at the bottom right of the screen. Example, put in 10, it will rotate 10 degrees clockwise. -10 will rotate counterclockwise.

To add other parts, just go to File -> new part, then import another drawing. You can have as many individual parts as you care to add. Each one will need its own operation though. (as opposed to duplicating a part, which uses the same operation as the original)

do you nest all your parts then assign cut paths, or do it as you import? If you do a certain part often, can you save the .tap files and import them as needed? or need to assign cut lines everytime?

A lot of people don't know about the < and > buttons to rotate parts. I certainly had a yippee moment when I found out about them.

Yippee!

Rotate in 5 degree increments--that will probably do 90% of what I need, and faster than typing. 8-)

I bet it gets better, my guess is you'll be able to change that 5 degree setting somewhere in Application Options.

Anyway, glad to see a couple of extra yippees, brings back happy memories
