SheetCam nesting?

Post by Tristar500 »

Will SheetCam do advanced nesting?
I looked on youtube for SheetCam nesting and all I saw was simple parts placed on a sheet.

What I need is a nesting program that will flip, rotate set space between parts etc.. To get the most out of a sheet of material.

Anybody?

thanks

Im using www.deepnest.io it works well for my nesting needs. Its not 100% as i still find myself adjusting in sheetcam afterwards, but hey... its free.

It's working really well for some stuff. I have to find a way to collapse layers (I think) in DXF files with multiple layers to plasma cut properly.

Anybody know a good way to flatten (remove layers) in a DXF.

I have Corel Draw 2020, Inkscape, BobCad 21, SheetCam.

Thanks guys!!

I do my nesting in Inkscape, you can move and manipulate any way you would like, and place them in a DXF or SVG file to import to SheetCam.

I am using DG Nest (former DG Nest Pro), it works well for my nesting needs.

the thing to watch with that is it converts all arcs to lines (g1) motion, so some things like hole detection or arc detection for THC lock won't work as sheetcam won't see the arcs just every move as a line (a very small line, but still a line!)

also some CNC programs look at each line segment and the angle between them and work out if THC lock should be active ..... problem is each line segment is very small.... and the angle between them is quite large.
