Weird Situation

Post by JJsCustomDesigns »

I was getting ready to cut some pieces yesterday. Pulled up Mach3, went to click the THC on button. Missed it and hit the manual fire. As i went to click the manual fire off... i notice the gantry moving as the torch fired. No program was loaded. didnt even have a cut profile loaded yet. I hit manual fire a few more times and it moved every time the torch fired. \ I ended up restarting Mach3 and the problem went away.

Anyone have any ideas why the gantry would take off, it was only moving about 10ipm, when the torch fired?

Im newbe at this but when my controller acts funny I just restart it and the software. It goes away. You may want to check your grounds too.

Sounds like electrical noise. The few times we've seen this has been with PowerMax 85 plasma units. Replacing the Hypertherm divider board with our own divider board solves the problem.

Your issue could have been a glitch in Mach3. The cases we've seen were fairly extreme...and rebooting did not fix it.
