Plasmacam / bench top mill

Post by thissideup » Thu May 30, 2019 5:15 pm

Hey all, I have a old bench top mill and the hardware / software from my old dhc plasmacam that I want to marry. Does anyone know if 3.11 will let me play with the numbers so that 1” on the table will equal 1” on the screen? Also has anyone retrofitted a beefier z axis screw? Wondering if 3.11 will run anything that doesn’t have a plasma cam sticker on it. I’ll likely set z axis with a stop on the quill but if I could get it to raise and lower on its own would be handy.

Awesome! I did somethign similar years ago but not with Pcam hardware. I was unable to fudge anything in the control software and doubt you will be able to in Pcam either however I was able to scale my drawings in CAD to the correct dimension so that it did mill out the proper size. Good luck i'm sure you can do it that way :Like

I am able to edit the resolution, and I can think around p cams limitations. this is just a starting point, and a fun little project with spare parts I have on hand. I discovered that p cam motors 8006 steps per revolution, my screws are 10 turns per inch, with a bit of math I can get it to scale. I think it will work!
