Plasma amp settings - For 24-26 Gauge Metal Art

Post by slshanton »

What should I set amps and speed to get best cut on 24 to 26 gauge metal artwork? when slowing speed down doesn't this burn a bigger kerf.

Yes, slowing it down will burn a wider kerf, but you can remedy that with tip selection and amp setting.

You will want to use a low amperage tip, 20-40 amps and do some practice cuts to find the max speed for the amps you have choosen, then just back it off few ipm's.

The lower amp tip will have a smaller orifice and produce a thinner kerf and allow you to turn the amps and speed down to achieve a smooth, quality cut with thin kerf that you will likely be very happy with.

Let us know how it turns out...post some pics in that gallery if you have a chance.
