Final Cut Not Matching G-Code Export

Post by Last Best Metalworks »

I cut the piece below yesterday only to discover that a portion (top right) was way off. As you can see, the "7" cut way too thin and the right vertical boarder and the mountains got extra thick. Anyone have a guess what might be happening here?

Chances are that your gantry stalled momentarily and miss some steps however I don't know if your system uses stepper motors or servos. I would draw a large rectangle the size of your cutting deck and let the gantry do a dry run all around the rectangle at the same speed or faster than what you cut this at and watch and listen carefully for anything out of the ordinary in the motion. If you see or here the gantry stall or lose steps note that location on the rails and inspect closely. Yo may find slag or grime on the rails. Clean everything well.

One other thing you may check is if some of the section had a different plan when the G-code was done. If you cut that section with a outside offset. I can see where some would be inside and other outside. So it could be you selected that one wrong it would not be as you wanted.

Just got off the phone with ArcLight. I had my ProNest machine process settings set up for 35+ ft leads when I have just the standard (25'?). Hope changing the settings helps. I think my torch head was dragging and that might have cause an issue.

Yes - your leads might have stalled your carriage motion across the gantry and created that shift in the x direction.
