Anti-Spatter Spray?

I was reading some old posts. Jim Colt and Hypertherm recommend using a MIG Anti-Spatter spray or liquid to coat metal before plasma cutting. I’ve never used it but am considering doing so. I came across one made by Simple Green. Has anyone tried this product? What do you think about it? Is there another brand you recommend? I’ve read that people use everything from cooking anti-stick spray to some stuff called duck oil. I’m curious what’s working for folks out there.

If I didn't use a water table something like that sounds ideal.
I only really spray the whole sheet if there is a lot of pierces on thick material do, it really does help reduce the slag pile, I have used duck oil before but now use AC-90, another thing I started using is cooking oil with a paint brush, quick dab on pierce points helps as well it's also great applied on the shield in fact I daub it on right up the retaining cap as well, it really helps to stop any spatter sticking to the shield, better than tip dip for mig welding I find.

don't know if I'm getting too nit picky here but does any type of cooking oil work, or have you always used one type.

Well, you know Olive oil is supposed to be good for you, so if you inhale olive oil smoke it might also be good for you, besides giving the steel a nice soft feel

Peanut oil has a high smoke point, so maybe that would be better. Unless you're allergic to peanuts.

Just checked and it's actually sunflower oil,,,,and no it's not a wind up - works well

well, if the smoke point temperature has anything to do with it, I Googled about oil smoke points and Rice Bran oil was pretty high up the list yet is one of the cheaper oils available in the supermarket.

Well you learn new things every day, I never heard of Rice Bran oil, well it does exist.

I've used the simple green it works ok, Weld-kleen imo works better

I had a splatter problem and solved it to my satisfaction by cleaning the air supply, reducing the heat level and tinkering with the speed. My table is a water table, but I use it without water because for me the results are better. Yea, I know thats a bit odd. The way I cleaned up my air suppy is with two driers close to the compressor and an inline filter unit at the Plasma cutter (Lincoln 1000).
