Poor quality cuts and random errors

Post by Gunfighter »

I am new to plasma cnc. After table was delivered everything was fine. Then, I had a loss of air which caused the torch to die off in middle of a cut. I fixed the air issue and replaced the consumables. Now it cuts weird jags in every file. These files cut fine previously. I attached pics of:

All cut out of 16 g steel
2.5 inch circles
6 x 6 square with hole
4 x 4 square with 4 holes
logo - top was cut prior to issue, bottom after

I have a custom table by Cyrius Metalworks. A Hypertherm 65 plasma. Command cnc control software. Sheetcam software

Air pressure is - 100 psi to torch. Double water filter. Gauge at torch.

I have read through forum for similar issues before posting. I don't know how to adjust torch height in the program.

I appreciate any and all advice. Please make advice understandable for a newbie. Thanks again!

You have a problem in the drive system something is loose. When you transfer between X and Y axis movement something shifts, it also appears where you cut the outside of the square as the end does not meet the start in the upper left corner.
Could be a setscrew in the drive is slipping

You are absolutely correct. Since posting earlier today I found a tiny loose set screw on the Z axis drive. All good now. Thank you for your post. I am sure I will need more help in the future.

Great many here happy to help
I like to file a flat on the shafts where the setscrew touch to help reduce slipping too.
