consumables

Post by geosue79 »

Help, we have blown 5 consumables in 1 hour. Not sure what in the world is wrong. The torch wants to touch the material between pierce holes and then blows the tip. I have cleaned the gantry, the z axes, and it still isnt working right. Anybody have any ideas.
Thanks George

What brand and model plasma?

What cutting machine and height control system?

What thickness, what power level, and what consumables set?

Be happy to help, but need some info!

You probably have water getting into your air line from your compressor. One droplet will destroy the nozzle and electrode.
Attach an air nozzle to your hose and see how much water sprays out. I live in Colorado where the humidity is very low and I still get a lot of water in the air lines because compressed air holds a lot of water. Take a glass of ice water and see how much condensation forms on it.
The best solution is to get a refrigerated drier between your compressor and cutter.
Also keep the air hoses up off of the floor.
