not peirceing ?

Having troubles. Have a Thermal Dynanic 51 and a Torchmate table. I have it set so it cuts well (12 G). But sometimes it dosnt peirce but still follows were the cut is suppose to be cut. I talked with them at Torchmate. And we went over most of it. They suggested trying a new Start cartridge. The one in there isnt that old. How often should they be changed. Any other suggestions on what to try?
