HELP How to control cut 90 degree vs bevels

Post by Engineering » Sun Dec 01, 2019 4:36 am

Going to the hive mind on this one... I'm new and have only about 1 hour of cut time under my belt.

I was cutting some trinkets for practice and for the life of me cannot figure out why I keep cutting bevels on my parts. I get a 90 at the top of the cut, but create a bevel at the bottom. After removing dross it almost turns into a knife edge which is unacceptable. Its about a 15 to 20 degree angle.
I put new consumables in the torch, played with feeds & speeds and power source output to no clear solution.

Cut parameters:
16Ga hot rolled sheet
Cutting 30 amps on machine
about 900-1500 mm/min
60-65 PSI at torch
Torchmate table
Jasic Razorweld power source
Tool path created in Fusion 360

If you have any suggestions I'm open.

Could be a torch height issue as the plasma beam is not straight, shaped more like the flame of a candle.

Cut direction?

clockwise for outside offsets (parts).

counter-clockwise for inside offsets (holes).

+ torch height as Ben said previous.

Thanks for the replies. I'll run through the set up process again and try optimize torch height.

Thanks for the suggestions.
