Can I Connect a Proma THC to my Z axis driver?

Post by nikolakuzzz »

Hello guys, i've been having problems with cutting thick steel on my plasma cutter so I consider buying Proma THC. But, I searched on youtube and in the videos i see that they are wiring it to slots I don't have in my driver. Would you be kind enough to tell me if I can connect it to my driver or replace it before I buy THC?
Thanks a lot

Usually a THC is more helpful on thin material that can warp or flex while cutting. Thick material usually doesn't have these problems. What sort of issues are you having?

there are 2 types of Proma the 150 hooks to input on the BOB that same way the limits switches do. But you will need to have spare inputs to to hook the signals from the Proma 150 to the BOB. the other type is a SD and this is a stand alone type that hooks between the BOB and the Z driver. It is to switch signals to the Proma SD when the THC is needed so no input to the BOB. This unit has be very problematic and I would not use it.

Im burning through my spare parts rather quickly because my table is diy that is not everywhere perpendicular. I thought if i cut 1 inch steel with THC it might be better.

If your torch isn't perpendicular to your material, a THC will not help. You are going to have angular edges on all of your parts. This is going to be more noticeable on thicker material.

Ok I figured the rest out, i just need one more thing. My plasma does not have a voltage divider and on the Proma 150 it says it has a built-in one. Do I still need a voltage divider to connect the plasma to the THC?

You can hook it up directly with suitable HV wire as per manual.
Keep that wiring as short as possible.
