I can equip a Cutmaster 60ix with the automation kit and MechPak for $3695.
For $2625 I can get a Hyperthem Powermax 45XP with the 25' lead and machine torch. It has a CNC port.
Since I am retired from farming I doubt I will put cutting much 1/2" stuff anymore and if I do I can cut it old school with my oxyfuel torch.
Having said that how do you think the two mentioned above would do on 3/8" or 1/2" on a plasma table?
When I replaced my Miller 625 (old version, not the new light one) with the Cutmaster 40 I felt I got cheated. They both said 40A but the Miller out cut the Cutmaster because it's power supply produces more power.. My guess is the Hypertherm 40A is probably about the same wattage as the Cutmaster 60.
Thoughts?

Re: Hypertherm 45xp vs Cutmaster 60i
I would say the neither machine are designed to cut 3/8-1/2 material for any length of time but either will work great to cut 3/8-1/2 part when you need it to.
I believe the Powermax 45XP is superior to the Cutmaster 60 in both build quality and cut quality on materials up to 1/2" and would go with the 45XP for sure.

I second the hypertherm. We have a TD 120 at work and I have a powermax 85 at home. The hypertherm is better quality than the Thermal Dynamics

Thanks. That's what I figured- you usually get what you pay for..
Are consumable reasonable on Hypertherm? Or high like Miller?
Second part, do they last a long time? Higher price not bad if they last.
Thanks

Genuine hypertherm vs genuine thermal dynamics on bakersgas.com, hypertherm is cheaper. I’m sure you could find places where TD are cheaper but I’d make sure regardless to buy genuine consumables. The knock off consumables are junk. I don’t have an accurate answer on whether hypertherm or thermal dynamics last longer. I’ve never tracked cut time between the two.

I have been using my Hypertherm 45xp for about 6 years now with not problems whatsoever. I also use the Hypertherm Powermax 85 on one of my tables. Both great machines! If I were buying again, I would still go with the 45xp.

With the OEM Genuine Hypertherm FineCut consumables cutting 14 ga. steel, you should be able to get at least 1000 pierces and 7000 to 8000 cut inches with one set (nozzle and electrode).littlebossDWH wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 12:39 pm Thanks. That's what I figured- you usually get what you pay for..
