What do you use

Post by acourtjester »

I have looked all over and cannot find the answer. How do you create a NCG file from a test doc, I want to generate a short G-code by typing it out and saving it with the .NCG file extension. I don't mean a file of text letters, real easy in Inkscape. A .TAP file is easy too with notepad, but not .NCG
Thanks Tom

The NCG foramt is just another extension . Its a Txt forma file just like a .txt, or .tap format ...all the same except for that eextension. NOw, if you have it to acutally RUN a LINUXCNC control you have to adg\here to the G-code format required by Linuxscnc . The G and Mcodes are all listed . Its ll all in the POST procesor out of the CAM unless you are writing it by hand in which case you have to use the g and M code syntax in the manulas. ALl g-code is simply a text file in a format wil lines of commands and motion.

Any CAM that has a EMC2 POST will work although its not going to do much for Plasma unless its written for Plasma.

BTW Linuxcnc will read and run both TAP and TXT foramts too
