Arc won' t transfer

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any idea why a plasma cutter having symptom like: If press trigger in the air arc remains as long as i keep pushing it. As soon as i try to cut a piece of metal arc shut off immediately. Thank you.

That is very odd, kinda the opposite of what you'd expect. What plasma cutter are you using?

Do you have your work lead clamp attached to the material you are attempting to cut?

Are you getting any error conditions or indicators on the plasma unit? Is the unit new or did this just start happening, you may have a failure in the unit.
