Timing belt with V-rails to R&P

Post by BeckerFab »

I have a 4' x 4' table and would like to ditch the belts. I always have issues with squiggly lines from fast x/y changes. Aso always have to tighten the belts....pain.

So if I were to switch to R&P, how much work would be involved? What parts would I need? I can weld and fabricate...but completely lost with this. Can someone point me in the rite direction on where to read???

Thanks!

What I have used on the Y axis on my tables is a 20 tooth spur gear and a matching rack, I use a 3:1 ratio (shorter belt) from the motor to the shaft that has the spur gear. I do not need to adjust them at all. different tables shown

It would be helpful to see some photos of your setup so we can see exactly what your current belt arrangement is.
Thanks,

I bought new belts and plan on pulling it all apart to clean it and replace the belts. Once I do that I will take some pics of the belt arrangements.
