MyPlasmCNC draw a conclusion

Post by East German »

Hello

Some are interested in the system. I started testing with my old Windows XP system.

The installation is very easy and I completed 3744 starts and 422 minutes burning time without any problems.

I have now upgraded to Windows 10 and have now completed 1087 starts and 179 minutes burning time.

I will not be returning to Mach3!

Best regards
Peter

Do you find an improvement in the finished article?

Better quality cut?

What do you like about it that you do not like any more about mach3

Hello,
The cut quality is the same. But you are more flexible because you can adjust the parameters directly on the main screen.

With Mach3 everything has to be changed in Sheetcam and you have to take into account which material is cut.

With MiniCAM you can do most of the work only with complicated things where the order is important, I still use Sheetcam.

Advantages for me:
- easy setup
- Ohmic and floating probing with different values
-Modern operating system to use Internet and Dropbox
-start from here or from a certain place no problem
- Interruption and restart no problem
-Cut simulation without starting the torch

Four things that I have set up in Mach but with a lot of effort.
Mach requires much more cables and hardware to achieve the same result.

I'm still in the collecting parts/designing phase of my table. I plan on using myplasm but have a few reservations.

Have you tried Sheetcam with myplasm? I haven't been able to find a post processor for it but assume this is doable. I have played around with the myplasm software and it does seem pretty decent but I prefer to have more options like sheetcam provides.

Second concern is would I be able to add a second tool? (Plate marker). On my last table (torchmate) I made my own plate marker and Les Newell built a post for me to use the plate marker but I remember setting up the #2 tool offset in the torchmate driver software. I assume this is something myplasm would have to add in the software right or could this be programmed through the post processor only?

Last hold up that's not a deal breaker for me is would myplasm be able to support a router if I wanted to add that option in the future?

I have been using the post processor for many years CANDCNCrev11j from CAND CNC.

It works with Mach3 and MyPlasmCNC very well.

MiniCAM is sufficient for most tasks and saves a lot of time. The automatic detection of the paths works very well.
I only use Sheetcam very rarely.

Because of the marker you have to write to Lukascz Prokop from Proma, I have mine, I don't need it enough.

He answers questions pretty quickly.

Thanks for the info on the candcnc post. That helps a lot.

You say you have a plate marker and plate marker post? Would you be willing to share that post with me?

Plate Marker:
I have broken it down since converting to MyPlasmCNC because I don't need it.

Ok, so you haven't used the plate marker with MyPlasm. Are you aware if it's possible to use a plate marker as a second tool with MyPlasm?

I hope you can because the table I ordered uses My Plasm and I was planning on adding a scribe. I was told it could be done.

As of right now it cannot be done without the software being changed. I have been speaking to the developer for the last couple days. He's gonna look into a simple solution and potentially add it in the future but as of right now its not top priority. In the meantime I'm going to see if I can figure out a work around.

It's junk. Had a firmware update that crashed and broke my torch and left the machine unusable. The motors randomly reverse and it crashes the gantry into the end at high speed. No one has figured this out, and I'm an inch from scrapping the whole table and buying something else. This program is utter garbage and it's only good for keeping scrapyards in business.

Is this your report on your MyPlasmCNC electronics package, this seems to be the first with problems. Any other follow up from other members with their experiences??

I have two tables running MyPlasmCNC and it works. I had a mechanical problem with a pulley but the program can't help it.

I Run MyPlasmCNC on my STV table and the first installation of it was buggy and would reverse the parameters in the settings and cause similar issues to Maximusde34.

STV was quick to help send out an updated Install file and I did a complete reinstall of the computer application and it solved the parameter changing phenomenon.

Thanks for the reply Peck, I thought that was the answer, to bad some limit the options with their product. As someone who has and uses my table for a multi-function tool, it is sad they put themselves in a small box. It seems with some small changes they could be open to more business/customers.

You can do a lot MORE than just plasma cutting with these tables. You just have to think OUTSIDE of the box!
