confused about Trafimet A151 Torch

Post by Jakler »

Hello guys i'm new to plasma. I build my own diy plasma table.
The mechanics works fine. But now i'm run into problems with my Tramifet A151 torch.
My setup is as follows:
- uccnc eth300 with diy BOB
- Jäckle Power Plasma 160
- Trafimet A151 torch with pilot arc ( high voltage start)
- diy Ohmic sensing circuit with Isolation Relay and resistance measurement

I have 2 different option on my torch.
1. Is with a sort of protection shield. ( shield is electrically isolated)
The nozzle is about 3mm behind the surface of the shield.

2. Only the nozzle ( cant use Ohmicsensing. the nozzle is internaly connect to the HV source )

With option 1 the cutting height is 3mm + 1.5mm. Does this make any problems?
I dont find any information about cnc cutting with trafimet torches. The only thing i found says option 1 is for CONTACT LONG. Dont know what that mean. Does anyone have experience with trafimet torches?

sorry i'm not a native english speaker.

I only use the nozzle shields if I am cutting thicker materials, for thin stuff it doesn't matter.

Not sure what the cut height is supposed to be with your torch but you should maintain the proper nozzle to workpiece distance with or with the shield.

How do your cuts look?
