Break away torch holder - FastCut

Post by KevyMetal »

Hi all, new guy here. Looks like a great forum.

I am in the process of getting some quotes for a 4x8 table. I got a quote back from FastCut up in Canada (where I am located) and the breakdown includes a break away torch holder for a cost of $2500 CDN extra. Looks like a magnetic breakaway with a switch. I understand the importance of a break away for collisions ect, but does that cost seem reasonable? I have seen universal options and DIY options for far less. I guess I am wondering Are breakaway systems something that can be added to most tables after? I am trying to keep costs down, or do some addons later as things progress, so any input would be appreciated.

Also, I see lots of manufactures in the USA compared to Canada, do any of these ship to Canada?

Thanks

Here's a magnetic torch break away with kill switch embedded in it I just purchased a while back. Very well made and $400.00. You might be able to adapt it to your machine.....it's made to fit several types of machines.

Wow. 2500.00. Do a simple search here and just put breakaway in the search box and there are tons of posts on it. I think I made mine for like 30.00 bucks or so.

Here is one made by Sean P that should be easy to adapt to your table.

This is my spin off to Sean P's design, I added some mounting tabs for lasers and tilting to square and or a bevel cut:
