CNC Cutting Community Design Contest

Post by PrototypeHubs »

CONTEST TIME!!

As most people in the additive manufacturing world know, 3D Benchy is one of the most distinctive figures for the 3D printing community. Some of the unique features of 3D Benchy are that it is used to challenge the machine, manufacturer, and it is used as a calibration support tool. http://www.3dbenchy.com/dimensions/ We are excited to release the CNC Cutting Community Design Contest for everyone to participate in! Prototype Hubs needs your help in coming up with the most recognizable design for the newest global network for CNC cutting and manufacturing.

Here is how it works:
  1. Come up with an original design that transcends all boundaries of gender, race, and nationality.
  2. Submit your design and design name to https://www.prototypehubs.com/cnc-design-contest no later than March 29, 2019 10:00 PM MDT.
  3. The CNC cutting community will vote on which design they love best! (See contest rules below)

    1st place:
    1. 500$ (USD)
    2. Free one year subscription to our upgraded Executive Business Partner Account.
    3. We will put your design on https://www.plasmaspider.com/ for everyone to enjoy.
    4. Front page feature on our website after we launch on July 1, 2019.
    5. Spotlight feature on all of our social media sites.
    6. A place in history as the creator of the design.
    2nd place:
    1. 100$ (USD)
    2. Free one year subscription to our upgraded Executive Business Partner Account.
    3. Spotlight feature on all of our social media sites.
    3rd place:
    1. Free one year subscription to our upgraded Executive Business Partner Account.
    2. Spotlight feature on all of our social media sites.
  4. The winning design will also be used on a daily basis. As a user signs up to become a manufacturing partner with Prototype Hubs, they can choose an option that we will send them the winning design as the manufacturers first CNC cut part so that we can give them their first rating!
Important dates:
March 18, 2019 10:00 AM MDT: Contest officially launches
March 29, 2019 10:00 PM MDT: Last day for design submissions
April 1, 2019 10:00 AM MDT: Public voting opens
April 12, 2019 10:00 PM MDT: Voting closes

Rules:
  • Maximum 4 submissions per person. You are more than welcome to submit more than one design if you have multiple ideas, but please limit it to a maximum of 4 design submissions per person.
  • Since this design will be cut with a plasma, laser, or waterjet, from many different material (stainless steel, wood, glass, etc.) we are looking for a single piece that is a flat 2D design.
  • Voting is limited to 1 vote/24hrs (Certified by Easypoll) -> Rally all of your family and friends to help you out! Voting will also take place at: https://www.prototypehubs.com/cnc-design-contest starting on April 1, 2019 10:00 AM MDT and ending on April 12, 2019 10:00 PM MDT.
  • Please upload an image file of your design. The winning designer will email Prototype Hubs the DXF file before the prize is able to be collected.
  • Have Fun!!! This is meant to be a friendly, fun contest to benefit the community as a whole.
This is our way of not only giving back to the community, but also working alongside the community. I know there are so many great, talented artists and creators out there. This is an awesome opportunity to showcase not only some work from the community, but ultimately in the end have someone that is from the CNC cutting community come up with a winning design.

Cheers,

Hey whiskeymike! Thanks for the reaching out and checking in. Unfortunately, we managed to amass a grand total of 0 entries over the duration of the contest submission period. After much debriefing and deliberation over the dismal engagement, we came to the conclusion that we may have "jumped the gun" on running a contest while users have little to no form of interaction with our manufacturing platform yet! Essentially we believe that we are just a bit ahead of our time and it may take a bit of time after we have fully launched for our clients and manufacturing partners to fully understand the power of the on-demand manufacturing platform that we are building. Please do continue to check in though, as the first phase of our Launch will be the unveil of our new website on May 10th. Our closed beta test round starts June 10th and the fully functional platform launches July 1st! We still do have plans to re-launch the contest after we have fully launched our platform and the community has had some time to interact and use it.

Hey Eiklj,

As mentioned, we still do have plans to re-launch the contest after we have fully launched our platform. So do sign up to our weekly newsletter at Prototype Hubs to keep up-to-date with everything that we have going on!
