A sheet of 4'x8' galvanized in 20g is probably $50 for someone like me. These guys can probably get it around ~$30/sheet at the quantities they order and probably in 5'x10'. These were about 1'x1' pieces. Since there's no cleanup it's load, unload, and straight to packaging. Then the supply probably goes something like this: cost to make is $1/ea, sell wholesale to Walbogs at $1/ea, Walbogs resales for $10/ea, Walbogs is rolling in cash (makeitrain.gif).

This manufacturer can sweep some of the local market since they're making State oriented work, hence the Missouri ones in the bottom left. Then of course they have the Nation, and then some mumbo-jumbo cuts.

If you do the whole metal art thing (I try to avoid it), this is a big chunk that Walbogs just took in the market. Now consumers can feed good buying cheap, US made stuff.

Those sort of things has been around long before WM. The best day of you life is when you sell to Wallmart , the worst day of you life is when you have to deliver to Wallmart and get paid. They will force you to give them dirt level pricing, pay the freight to their distribution center and force you to take back any damaged or unsold inventory. Competition from Mexico and Asia is brutal. How do you avoid it? As a great football runner said when asked how he avoided being tackled he said: " I just run where they ain't" Focus on custom work. Being able to make something that is unique or personalized has value. Make products that are not possible to mass produce. Do-dads might sell at Wally World but you will go broke trying to make that sort of thing . i used to make small cutouts out of scrap and paint them and try to sell them for 10 bucks to help pay for material but it was a money losing deal.

The biggest turn off for most people is when you say you bought it at wal-mart. The people who by these are people who would not be buying from someone who does custom work.
