Best way to learn this stuff

Postby leggman » Mon May 29, 2017 1:35 pm

I built my table last year and still am working out issues with my cheap torch but I am very lacking in just how to make the g code files for cutting.
I would like to be able to make my own drawings then digitize them into g code but for someone like myself with limited resources it can all be very overwhelming.
Maybe someone has a online course for beginners???
Thanks. Dave

Look up the Arclight instructional videos on Youtube. They use Inkscape for drawing (free), and Sheetcam for the CAM controller. I'm not sure what your hardware setup is, which may determine what is recommended. I believe QCAD is a free CAD program, as well.

CommandCNC/Linux w/ Ohmic & HyT options
Hypertherm Powermax 85 w/ machine torch
Solidworks, Coreldraw X7, Inkscape, Sheetcam
