Show your kerf width on screen

Post by CorelDRAW for Plasma »

This video will show you a fast and easy way to display your kerf width on screen which will help you to locate intersections and overlapping detail caused by the width of the kerf (material removed by the plasma arc).

This is particularly helpful when working with designs that contain a lot of small interior detail, detail close together, or when scaling a design down so you can determine how small you can go before you run into intersections or overlapping detail.

There are many ways I have seen folks check for intersections but this is by far the easiest and can also be done in other programs like Inkscape as well.

Justin - thanks for another great instructive video. That is handy that both CorelDraw and Inkscape have the ability to set the line width. In Inkscape they call it the Stroke width. But those of us using Design Edge don't have that ability to set line width. What we do is either draw a small circle approximating the kerf width or the desired minimum clearance between adjacent cuts and move the circle around to manually check, or use the Show Wide Cut Paths option that shows the actual kerf width when converted to cut paths.

Your welcome David. I see a lot of folks checking kerf that way, hopefully this technique for Corel and Inkscape will save some people some time.
