How are you running your table without the control software? Have you contacted Langmuir tech support?

Hi Less

You mention you can not get it to work at all but then state that you can cut straight lines.

If you are able to cut straight lines using the control of the computer then you must be connected.

So is your computer able to move the machine around?

I'm sorry I misunderstood my grandson on the programs, it is fusion 360 that we can't get to work. We get the CrossFire Pro to cut straight lines but can't get it to cut anything else for signs.

Perhaps have your grandson log in here and explain exactly what problems he is having with Fusion 360. Is he able to create the drawing, convert to cut paths, but can't get it to post to g-code? Or is he having problems with the drawing and/or cam portion?

Don't know how to create a drawing, or convert to cut paths, or post to g-code.

Do you mean you can't do any of that with Fusion 360, or that you have no experience with any cad/cam software?
Some here use a combination of Inkscape and SheetCam to accomplish the same thing. What drawing programs have you used in the past?
Langmuir has some great Fusion 360 tutorials at their site. You can check them out using the link below.

If you have a sample image you wish to cut, post it here and I will show you the steps to take with Fusion 360 to get it ready to cut.

We have no experience with Fusion 360 or with any cad/cam
software. Near used any drawing programs before, this is all new to us.

So you probably just need to hire someone to program your parts until you learn how to do it. Here is a sample part for you to try to cut. It's just a flat plate with 4 holes, approximately 1/8" thick. I created this using Fusion 360 and is pretty simple to do. Feel free to PM me if you want additional help.

I have posted the download link for the G-Code file at the bottom of this post. You should be able to send it to your FireControl program and cut the part. I have set the cut speed at 115 ipm assuming you will be cutting from 1/8" thick steel material. The manual for your particular plasma cutter should have mechanized cut charts for specific consumables and material thickness. For Hypertherm 45 this would be cut at 45 amps, 0.060" cut height, 0.150" pierce height, approx. 115 ipm cut speed, pierce delay around 0.5 sec, with a kerf width approximately 0.050". The settings for your particular plasma cutter may be different.

I was able to learn Fusion 360 to the degree I needed by just watching online tutorials and following along. Just need to put in the time. Looks like David is offering up some assistance, it would be worth your time and money to have him help you out on this.

I learned pretty much all I know about Fusion 360 from the tutorials Lars Christensen put on youtube.
Some things have changed slightly or have been renamed since this series but it's still a great resource.

Arnold Rowntree has some of the best Fusion 360 basic tutorials I have seen. I always recommend him.
He supplies a drawing for each lesson which the student can print out to use for reference when following along with his lessons.
For those already familiar with SolidWorks, Fusion 360 is an easy transition to make - and has a much more user friendly interface.

You are quite welcome. I would say that for the purposes of cnc plasma cutting the Langmuir youtube tutorials would be your best bet. I took a look a the Lars Christesnen video posted above and it does explain how to create a basic drawing - but appears to be more geared towards creating 3D solid models. For cnc plasma, you only need to create the drawing in the design space and then go to the cam space to create your cut paths.

The Langmuir tutorials are each pretty short and to the point, and are intended specifically for cnc plasma cutting. I would recommend spending your time with those first.

David
