Magnets for lifting 4' X 8' Sheets

Post by RAD »

Hi guys!

thinking of getting 2 magnetic lifters together with spreader bar for lifting 3/16" thick and 1/8" thick 4' x 8' Sheets onto my table. the magnets are 220 lbs each lifting capacity.

Any of you guys using a setup like this for material handling and how does it work?

Lifting magnets seems more efficient than horizontal and vertical sheet clamps in my opinion. Just want to make sure before i purchase though.

Thanks in advance.

My theory is the material will already be laying flat and a spreader bar with cables / hooks will pick up the sheet and roll it into place with a gantry hoist.

Make it extreme Chanel on you tube has a vid on how to make an electromagnet out of a microwave oven coil.

At work we had ones like this to lift steel sheets, didn't work so good on aluminum. LOL
