Sheet mover
Just thought I would share how I move sheets around the shop, it seems to work well for me, I can move a 3mm 8'x 4' around with ease.
I cut down the base plate on the sack truck to 1'' wide and added the frame with a piece of wood across for grip.

Re: Sheet mover
Good idea. What's the thickest you dare to move with that setup in a 4x8 sheet?

Thanks for that Sean,
sometimes the simplest ideas are the hardest to think of. I'm useless at thinking of simple solutions.
I can't use that idea at present because I load my table end on, no access anywhere else, but that trolley idea can be applied to just about anything, good one.
Keith.

Re: Sheet mover
Just thought I would add to this,,,the next step after the sack truck mod,,,,it's taken me a while to think how to do it but think it will do the trick, loaded 3 x 3mm sheets together (8' x 4') and it passed.

This is a great idea but my table has the gear tracks on top not on the sides, I don't think this will work with my set up. Thanks for posting the pics.

I think I have posted this before but here it is again. I built this so that I could end load 4x8 sheets by myself. This is a great idea but my table has the gear tracks on top not on the sides, I don't think this will work with my set up

Re: Sheet mover
This is exactly how I do it. I have a 3 TON Toyota forklift with 5-foot forks. I end load the sheet against the blades and use a strap to curl up the end a bit. Then lay the sheet onto the grates and release the strap. The weight of the sheet allows me to pull the blades out from beneath the sheet after that, and then I manually slide the sheet into place.SegoMan DeSigns wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2023 12:49 pm This is what I use until I get the new shop edition with overhead gantry done:

The forklift wasn't cheap, but it is the BEST tool I have added to my shop. It does ALL of the heavy lifting for me! Next Spring, I am looking at adding left-right shifting capability to the lift, along with auto hydraulic spreading of the fork blades.

Re: Sheet mover
Hi Joe, thanks for the response, the fork lift is definitely the way to go. Unfortunately I had to get a manual fork lift for now until I can get the real deal and it’s literally came in hand more times than I can say, game changer!!
