I bought one. It is FANTASTIC! I adapted it to mount to the backing plate of the PlasmaCam carriage. It rides off to one side of the torch or router, as the case may be.

slightly off topic but it is possible using the same adapter sort of thing for you to add a laser diode to cut out gaskets and paper patters fast.

I use a dedicated laser cutter (atomstack S7 or x9 with a 20W 4 diode laser but you can do it with a real cheepo one too)

One of my many TO DOs is to mount the 20 watt laser from one of my X-TOOL laser machines to the 4x4 or 5x10 table and let it work on a much larger platform. I need to make longer wiring harnesses, and figure out a way to turn the laser ON and OFF using DesignEdge software and the PlasmaCam controller box. I am SURE Randy Ashdown could create something for me, but I know he is a busy man as well.

Exciting news! I just heard that X-TOOL is coming out with a 40 WATT laser! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! :HaHa

Pretty cool Tom. Is that thing pivoting with another motor ? Sure looks like it.

The point of a drag knife is off center from the axis of the tool. The wheel rotates based on the machine's movement. For a demonstration of this, grab a shopping cart and see how you can turn and direct the front wheels with the movement of the cart.

No motor as joe points out the action from the offset design of the cutters.

Do you need to incorperate the offset into the software?

No sir the g-code is just like a pen plotter or router, plan the movement is done without an offset. It follows a drawing as on the line trace.

Just another idea for a sharpie holder.

That's a nice setup. A little bit more sophisticated than the normal spring loaded 3D printed assembly, but they both work fine for their intended purpose.

Happy to help I can print up as many as needed, $30 shipped in conus, for those with 3-D printers STL file free for the asking. :Yay
Good evening acourtjester, I don't live in conus but I do have a 3D printer. Would you still be in the mood to share the STL? I need something just like this. My son is all into airplanes and I decided why not use the plasma table to draw the model airplane plans onto a sheet of foam board... I did this the other evening, with a pen taped to my torch. Came out better than you might expect, but took a lot of babysitting and obviously a rigid-mount pen is asking for trouble.

Hey that pen marker thing is pretty clever how it clamps right into the torch body.

It sounds like you have a great project in mind, mounting a 20-watt laser to a larger table. Making longer wiring harnesses and figuring out how to control the laser with your software and controller box can be challenging, but it's great that you're taking on this task. Have you considered reaching out to the manufacturer or looking for online resources to help with the wiring and control? It may save you some time and effort. Good luck with your project, and I hope you'll share updates on your progress with the community.

Yes. The cut paths need a small loop at the corners to change the direction of the blade before proceeding. Omitting the loop will cause the drag knife to cut corners and change the desired shape of the end product.
