Radius and Fillet Gauges

Post by robertspark »

I thought these were clever when you are trying to copy something or make a box or case to fit something in etc.

Could be used to measure up flanges or adapter plates.

Yes they are for 3d printing, but could be plasma cut too (or laser cut).

Nice find! I have bookmarked this for future reference. All of mine are inches, so mm might come in handy for some of my applications.

Super cool. I've got the stone age set of rad gauges myself but I love the creativity the 3d printer crowd have :Like

I cannot tell you the number of projects having a 3-D printer has help. Today I printed an end for a Vacuum hose to be used on the Dust Shoe on my router table option. I wanted a shorter hose so I cut it half and printed a new end. Printed parts for the dust shoe too. :Yay

Those are nice looking rendered models Tom! Sometimes I wish mine would print as smooth as those look. Depending on the application, I usually need to do some finish work to some of mine.

I have epoxy coated some of my stuff and it makes them very hard and strong

I generally print petg and I use a 0.6 nozzle at 0.3 layer height

I must admit those gauges printed ok (the arcs are fine) but the numbers lacked detail as it was just 1 extruded line thick.

I may retry them at 0.25 or 0.1 nozzle (but it will probably take a month of Sundays to do)

the first gauges I printed at 1:1 scale and they were a bit thin..... the second lot I did at 150% (1.5x) z height scale and they are more stuff and longer lasting (in white petg)

I use cura for the slicer and post processing

I would like to try this stuff but it's made in the us and has a high import duty and shipping cost hence clear 2 part epoxy resin will meet my needs

Robert I have used this to paint my tables and it is great, not sure if you can get this stuff in the UK, maybe a different brand.
here is a video talking about how to mix it, it make it flow and shine for a very nice finish. I you do find the hardener it only take a very small amount.
I add Argon gas (tig welding) into the hardener's can before I put the cap on it lasts forever if you do this, or will gel after time without.
