Mesa 7i96 and THCAD frames

Post by nick7251 »

I designed up these 3D printed mounting frames for the MESA 7i96 board and the THCAD-10 board. It would fit any of the THCAD boards though. After printing I just drilled a small hole and used a self threading #4 pan head screw to mount the board down. then I stuck it to my metal controller box with some double sided sticky tape. It won't go anywhere anytime soon. I didn't take any pictures of the THCAD design, but it is pretty much a scaled down version of the same thing.

If you do not have a 3D printer and would like some of these. PM me. I'd be happy to print them for you if you. Just send a bit of money to cover my time, and shipping. Or you can go get the STL file from thingiverse.com and send to a print service.

Nice design clean mountings, covering the sharp protrusions under the boards. I have found planning the holes for mounting screws and then taping them with a normal tap works fine. The printer puts enough meat around the holes to do the job. Also there are threaded brass inserts you can buy that are heated and pushed into the plastic. I use a hole diameter of 0.078" for a 10/32 machine screw works great.

I am using the 7I76-E so I drew up a STl and printed it, attached STL here in th ZIP file. It is a simple mount with screw holes marked, I not good at Fusion 360 ( use 123D Design) functional but not pretty :HaHa :HaHa

I found this on Thingiverse for orainging cable in the controller, it is about 6-3/4" long but can be cut for shorter sections.
