Nice work! What program did you use to create the hatching? And what program did you use to convert you dxf/svg file to g-code?
Thanks,
David

Just for fun I tried the Rincon sign using Inkscape to draw and create hatching and Design Edge to create the scribe paths and cut path. I haven't actually created the part, but wanted to see how the work flow would go. Please let me know if you see a better or different method.
Thanks,
David

David nice explanation of the process, would be interesting if ArcForce used a different process.

ArcForce…..very nice projects there. Just curious what the total scribe time was for the road sign? I bought an EasyScriber from the PS Store a few years back and never made time to play around with it….still in the box….somewhere in the shop! Seeing these projects….definitely going to get it setup. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you everyone for the positive feedback.

We took our honeymoon down in Puerto Rico and stayed 1 week on the west side of the island and 1 week on the east.
Had a great time, but obviously, haven't been able to get back in the last few years. This just reminds us of those days.

The road sign was scribed with raw aluminum, no prep. I hand scrubbed the part after.
The Wisconsin, I prepped with my Eastwood Contour tool with a scotch brite drum before the etch.
That made the etching mirror like and the non-etched areas look "frosted" / grained. Might be hard to tell from picture but the shadow from phone kept getting in the way.

These were created in Inkscape with the Hatchfill extension in svg. I just played around with the settings until I found a pattern that I liked.
I'm not exactly sure how to pull up the hatchfill properties on an existing project. Maybe someone could give me some pointers?

I used the same settings for both projects.

Thank you and sure thing.

Total time on the table was around 1hr 35min scribe time. 10 seconds to cut. LOL

Side note:
I have tried to scribe on HR p&o steel, not really a fan. It barely scratches the surface. Maybe a heavier spring would force it down more?
I REALLY like the aluminum for the Easyscriber.

I hope this inspires more people to try this out. I haven't seen too many projects in my short time on here. 1 year
I am curious to try scribing the back side of a mirror next and maybe epoxy the back side afterwards.

Interesting the etching of the backside of a mirror, I have seen laser etching do for that process. but scribing should work fine too, little backlighting with LED strips would be great too. :Like I think the term is "Shadow box" :HaHa

Sorry, I guess I didn't really answer your question.

I only had to use Inkscape and the hatchfill extension to make.
Exported it into sheetcam.
Copied the outline to another layer for cutting.
Put the scribe on the torch and scribed the entire piece. It scribed both the text and the hatch at the same time.
Used shortest path in cut path/ operations.
Processed the outline to another file and cut out at the end.

Thanks for that! I did basically the same thing with Inkscape, and exported to Design Edge for "cutting".
I don't use Sheetcam, so doing it in Design Edge may be slightly different.

I don't see any way to pull up the hatch fill properties from an existing file. The best I could find was that it would let you see the properties from the last hatch created. Other than that, I think it is like the Text tool - you can create text, but there is no way that I am aware of to determine the font of an existing typed text. Design Edge is the same way, there is no tool to allow the text font to be identified simply by clicking on the text.

CorelDraw, LightBurn and some of the other programs do have the capability to show the text font and change it on the fly.

Thanks. I'll look to add another program to mix.
