Latest project for a mountain cabin. Went a bit over the top with the "creative freedom" allowed by the customer. Only request was they liked bears!!!
.
I used variations of files found here in this project, huge thank you to all who created them!

That looks awesome! Did you torch the wood and seal it?

I did it with a normal nap gas and details I used the solder torch! There's about 6 coats of Teak Oil on them.

You let the creative juices flow with those, great job. What software are you using for the carving sections. I assume the thickness of the signs allows for LED indirect lighting which has a more dramatic effect. I'm sure these will inspire others to get more involved mixing CNC operations.

Re: Unique Address sign! Wood & Metal
Wood slabs started out around 2" rough cut. Final was in the neighborhood of 1.5". I built x2 piece pill boxes to have options to change the carvings out or to refinish or replace the lights. Those were purpose built to extend past the wood enough to hide the lights and give some effect.acourtjester wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 9:21 am You let the creative juices flow with those, great job. The carvings were done on a workbee with upgraded hardware using openbuilds gear. The designs were done in Aspire/v-carve.
Really liking the mixed media so far. Down side is wood that size is stupid expensive here and the carving times are long (10 hrs on the big one).
Anyone wanting to venture into this arena, hit me up before you buy anything. There were some "learning costs" involved through out the past year that I've had the router.

Re: Unique Address sign! Wood & Metal
My table is double duty with Plasma and Router (drag knife, diamond scribe also) it does open up the projects that can be done. On the wood side I have just been doing wall plaques and Awards not to the level of yours. I use EstlCam for most of the wood "V" carving. not enough work to justify the cost of Aspire.

Re: Unique Address sign! Wood & Metal
Aspire is a little hit for sure, but very worth it if you can justify the up front cost. I was able to pay for it in less then 10 projects...
