Battleship Iowa VR Trailer

Post by Craig »

About a year ago I partnered with a local VR developer to create a Virtual Reality games based on aircraft that flew from the Iowa. The first game used the HUP2 helicopter, videos of game below the next game will be based on the OS2U Kingfisher.

The game got me thinking that the Iowa could use a VR trailer to do community outreach activities at airshows, festivals, parades & other outdoor events.
I donated the below trailer and this is what I came up with for VR game stations. It will hold 4 stations eventually.

I added a fan to each station because the VR goggles can get warm especially on hot days.

Fleet Week LA was a huge success with over 250,000 in attendance, BB-61 ticket office had long lines on the weekend days.
The VR trailer was finished in time for fleet week and brought in over $1,000 in donations to the Iowa. If we had planned it better I think we could have doubled that amount. Our best customers were kids, with lots of "OOOO's" "AWWWW's" and "WOW's".
