Your Gates look grate, But with all the snakes running around your shop maybe you could design one for the western states. Rod (AZ) If you want something quick for a steel rack with wheels I used 3 of the small rolling scaffolding like Home Depot sells. I did not have time to build a nice rack to stand up all of my steel ,plus I get everything in 20' sticks and I only have a 10' ceiling. I am new to this form but I do enjoy all the info and the grate work that I see. Good luck with the snakes and be on the look out and don't get bit.

I used to build a lot of elk design gates, lived in Northern AZ for a long time.
ELK, ELK, ELK that's all they wanted, so many elk hunters there.

It was a great place to live!

Had an elk gate myself, still there. If you ever go to the grand canyon, just look to your left off of hwy 64, just past the shell station and you can't miss it.

As far as the snakes, eventually fate will catch up with me.

I decided to take on my grandfathers ranch here.
I went from living in a three bedroom house in AZ to a one bedroom farm house in Texas with a lot of chores to do.

One thing I did find out though, everything in Texas is held together with baling wire! baling wire and snakes.

If you don't see a snake something is probably broke!
If there's no baling wire on it, it's probably broke!
If it's broke, fix it with some baling wire!
They say duct tape will fix anything but baling wire will do a better job.

Baling wire in your tires  , in your mower blades  and barbed wire on your fences that's held together with baling wire!

I should of invented baling wire.

My father is storing a boat at my place and when he took the cover off to use it, guess what? Rattlesnakes.

Snakes in the boat, in the live well and in the engine compartment.

I have been a long time hunter, been in the woods most of my life and seen a lot of rattlesnakes.
I once hiked in to the Verde river in AZ where the crocodile hunter (rest his sole) did a special on diamond back rattlesnakes.

They were everywhere! In our tents, in our bags and packs. at our feet.
My friend was so freaked out that he could not sleep for those four days.

I did not have a problem with them, just drank beer and watched out.

Here they are so angry and ready to strike.
Even my neighbors have not seen as many as I have but than again, I am always outside fixing something with baling wire when they are sleeping.

Maybe the snakes ran out of baling wire and are trying to tell me they need some!

Maybe I should build a gate out of baling wire and snakes?????????????

Maybe I should go into town for a few days before I go totally crazy???????

Yep Shawn, I agree with you, I think you should go to a local watering hole before you go totally crazy  . Great story about bailing wire and snakes. Up here it is duct tape and mosquito's.

Talk to you soon, Shawn.

Hi Elk I really enjoyed your post. We live east of the Town of Wickenburg west of Phoenix. We have been lucky not too many rattle snakes, however we do have a 6' bull snake living under the house that keeps the rattlers under control, they eat them so maybe you need to get a few BIG Bull snakes to help with the rattler population. LOL and dont forget the baling wire cage ha ha. When I was in grade school we lived in Monahans Texas for a while so I can appreciate the baling wire story. Good luck and keep the lights on. Rod
