Guitar shaped standing firepit
Just completed this firepit. TOO MUCH WORK! Probably going to wind up as another flower planter.

Re: Guitar firepit
That looks way too nice to put a fire in. Nice work! What is the material thickness?
Thanks,

Re: Guitar shaped standing firepit
That would look cool with a fire in it at night.
I would consider adding a fire grate with #9 rebar and a removable ash pan to keep the bottom from burning out and making it easier to clean out after a fire. If you decide to fire it up, post some pics!!

Re: Guitar shaped standing firepit
It's made of 14ga. 14 was hard enough to form as it was. I think Wifey is going to put some kind of flickering lights in the bottom to resemble flames.
Any ideas?

You can use LEDs and a fan to blow air up with some floppy flame shaped material moving like a fire.

Most definitely the flickering lights and not the real fire. This will look great!

Re: Guitar shaped standing firepit
I am not aware of a dxf being posted for this piece. You could download the image and try your hand at manual tracing with Inkscape (or you cad program of choice).
There are also some images you may find useful below.

Re: Guitar shaped standing firepit
We used a little less than a 4'x4' sheet. I used 14g which made it a little harder to form. Even though I have a hand roll, I chose to use a piece of 6" pipe to bend the curves because it was easier and more forgiving. than the roll.

Re: Guitar shaped standing firepit
Thx!
When you say it was too much work....
I assume the cutting was no problem using the etsy plans.
I was thinking the forming of the two side would be the only pain.
Am I missing something?

Re: Guitar shaped standing firepit
The cutting was the easy part. Forming, welding, cleaning. TIG welding would have been a nicer weld, less cleaning, but slower. I was in a hurry.
