Ford F150 Skid Plate

Post by dgcooper »

Hello all,

I recently purchased a 2019 Ford F150 XLT 3.5L Eco Boost XLT which comes with the Skid plates.
I ended up installing a BDS 6 inch lift and 35 in tires.
The factory skid plate does not fit after the lift so I deigned my own. I've looked all over the web for a skid plate for my lifted truck.
The closest thing I found was from RCI.
My two skid plates one up front and one that coves the transmission. The front cover fits in factory front cross member skid plat bolt holes and mount up near the rear of intercooler.

The transmission skid plate attaches to rear cross member and bolts to the lowered BDS crossmember. Covers the front control arm also.
Photos to follow.

Nicely Done! I like the way you did the tabs on the bend lines to facilitate bending.

Thank you David. My intent is to replace the transfer case skid plate with larger one. Also add my own design for the rear Dif.

Very nicely done, that would not be easy getting everything to line up and bolt up. Great job!

Lots of measuring. Laid it all out on cardboard, then cut and bent the cardboard before drew it up in my CAD. I drew and cut on my PlasmaCam table.

Hey, that looks amazing quality! Nice heavy plate.
Mind me asking what CAD program you’re using?
I’ve got a 2500 rear differential. I’m wanting to design my own truss, shock brackets, and traction bar brackets. Thanks!

I have a PlasmaCam. I researched online who made skid plates for the F150. RCI makes a skid plate for a stock truck, but NOT lifted. Took a lot of measurements and made a template from cardboard wiboltth all the bends that I needed. Then I drew it up in PlasmaCam. Bolts up to the factory holes.
I am also working on a skid plate for the rear diff also.
