Patio Area - Plasma Inlay in Concrete

Post by tomloewen » Tue Feb 12, 2019 11:14 am

A few years ago I thought I’d try something different. I thought I’d use some of my cutouts on a horizontal plane, rather than vertical. So I incorporated them into our patio area. I had them cut out of 10 gauge plate and welded 2” bolts to the backside and set them into wet cement. I saw no need to paint them, and the rust will just give them more character.

I was a little concerned about co-expansion so I designed them in 3 pieces rather than one long piece. It’s been a couple years now of cold winters and hot summer days and they have not separated from the concrete.

The area is about 120” x 18”
