Slow z-axis
I’ve been trying to speed my z axis up for rapids and homing and stuff. The fastest I can get it with out losing steps/stalling in Mach is 20 on velocity. It direct on a 3/8 screwdrive would a reduction box fix this?

Re: Slow z-axis
Not sure about your question but this is symptomatic of a Mach3 shortcoming.
When jogging, rapids, etc the Z axis honors the acceleration setting in "Motor Tuning" as it should.
However when responding to a up or down signal from the THC, acceleration settings are ignored and the axis movement goes from zero to feedrate instantly. Sort of a bang bang approach.
This is why the Z axis speed setting usually needs to be slowed down much more than it might otherwise be.

Re: Slow z-axis
Figured it out, ended up after 2 years of a lot of cutting my Z-axis driver was going bad working but slow. It completely gave out and I replaced and I’m back to 80ipm rapids on z
