KOI Anyone?

Post by Misguided Creator »

Hello everyone, I just joined recently, and I've got to say that this is such an awsome site! I've spendt the last year and a half teaching myself all this from scratch, and on my homemade table. It's a huge relief to find so many beginners and professionals in one spot, to learn from, and hopefully be able to pass along things that I've learned, in return. I will be posting some of my files after I finish making my family's Christmas gifts. That's right, still not done!

I generally prefer to use my own original artwork, but I'm stuck! I'm trying to draw a Koi fish, for my brother, but they keep ending up looking like a flathead catfish! I've got CorelD-9, but haven't figured out how to get an affective trace, without havin to redraw it completely in AutoCad. Can anyone help me out, please? Thank you

Thanks for the links. I found those a little while back, but thought I'd go for something a little more ornamental. I spent about 5 hours today in a final attempt to draw one, and suprized myself. I guess I figured out what I was doin wrong, now only if I can figure out how to post it on here! Thanks again

Ok, I figured it out. Here you go, my 1st contribution. Tell me what you think! good or bad! I'm a newbe at this, and I'm still trying to figure out how to create lead-ins, and make em work, so you'll have to add those yourselves, sorry. Any advise is welcome, and appreciated.

P.S. the piece on the bottom is the base for the Koi to set in.

That looks very nice, thanks for sharing! :D Here's one that came from Steve Good ( http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/ ) He has three or four free files each week.

Thanks Larry, that was exactly what I was looking for. That would be a nice one for his birthday or Fathers Day, do you have the dxf file for it? That's very strange, I just noticed my dxf file disappeared! Any idea why this may of happened?

Just un-rar the file I put on there. It's way to big to just attach. Glad I could help, but Steve Good is the one who should get the credit.

Thank you. I forgot to mention, that this was drawn for 1/8" (for the slot in the base), so you can adjust the slot width according to your materials

Just thought I'd share a pic of the Koi, he prefered it polished, as I do as well.
