As I'm sure your torch is perpendicular to the plate you either have:

- A damaged nozzle orifice (should be obviously notched or ovaled if viewed with a magnifier)

- A damaged or clogged shield (again...should be obvious)

- A damaged or worn out retaining cap

-A missing torch body oring

-A restriction in air flow to the torch (debris stuck in a fitting, pinched or cut torch air hose)

Jim,
Thanks for getting back with me. I appreciate your expertise and Hypertherm's willingness to allow you to perform this service to all of us. It means a lot. I will check out all the above and post the results.

Actually the .75 is time for pierce.
I changed to 60 amps shielded and it cut great.....go figure. The 80 amp nozzle would "blow out" almost immediately for some reason. The hole would ellipse if that makes any sense....
