Marine Corps. Logo

Post by abcofab »

Hello Folks
I'm amazed at all the incredible work shown on this site
Here is my first project utilizing an available file on my Omax 80X Waterjet Machining Center
With some editing, this is for a friend retiring from the Marines after 30 years of service
I will be posting more projects and share some files..when I figure out how to!!

Thanks

I could have bought a house (or 2) for the price of this machine
Aside from a few learning curves and glitches, this is an awesome machine with a 6'6" x 13' x 6" capacity to cut within
.003 in pretty much any material
And all I need to get compliments on my work is one of the great dxf files you guys have posted

thanks again

abcofab.....Congrats on purchasing an OMAX! I have a 55100 that I bought in 2004 and love it! If you ever get hung up on anything just let me know and I'll see if I can help.

I have the srs and 600lb hopper but opted not to purchase the tilt-a-jet, to costly. I wish I had the extensive background you do, I was in communications when I jumped into this. Who are your your main customer? Tool and die, job shops, sign companies, flooring? A bulk of my work out here is Tool and Die and Custom Stone Flooring. These are some pics of some work I just finished for a casino out here. The Lotus inlay is 1/2" stainless and 1" granite and 4 feet across. The main entrance medallion is Muntz metal and stainless steel inlaid into two different stones and is 196" in diameter. Hugo's is 6" deep cast bronze letters inlaid in the exterior stones. It's a very versatile machine.

Chopper,
That is some nice work you are doing. My customer base is sheet metal, machine, job shops...pretty boring uninteresting stuff , I do protoype & production, Quality Control consulting, re:ISO9001-2008 , blah, blah, blah
but I think I will diversify into doing some of the consumer based art work, novelty pcs
I live in an ocean side community and just cut two boat landing signs..didn't take photos tho
Much more interesting!
