See if this gets you started.
Its not perfect, didn't know what you wanted cut and what you wanted engraved.

Black is one group, red is another.

Spiderman50 - have you considered using Inkscape to do a manual trace? I took a look at it, and the very low resolution of your photo (496 x 486) makes it difficult to see the details clearly. But you could probably come pretty close. You are welcome to PM me if you need help with this.

The nonsymmetrical shape of the Celtic knot done by the tattoo artist does not need to be translated to the actual image. I think it would look better as a symmetrical image, especially if it is to be burned onto an urn, or a plaque, etc., using a laser. Or, maybe they do want the image to mimic the tattoo as closely as possible.

Another delay, as there is an online class associated with the seminar. The video will probably be made late tonight, or tomorrow.

You are going to laugh, when you see how easy this is.

Here is a similar solid wreath I just drew that can be cut with a plasma table if it is LARGE enough... Check your kerf widths in tight places!

You can make it smaller if you eliminate all of the tiny open paths that define the rope edges.

This is just a bit of work, but it is possible to wrap the knotted rope around many different shapes.

I want to thank everyone that has stepped up and helped me out with the trace of this celtic knot design. As soon as I get the wood cut and engraved I will post a finished picture! The family lost there son very early in life. The young man had this tattoo on his arm just days before his sudden death in a 4 wheeler accident where a very large tree fell on him while riding in the woods..... Thanks again for all your help!!!
