Angle Plasma Cut

Hi guys

LDSCNC 5x10
Hypertherm powermax 105
sheetcam and mach 3

Newb here, running a test on 3/8 ar500 steel, I have not been running anything thicker than an 1/8,
Angle of the cut is :Wow
How do i fix this please .

Hard to tell from the picture for certain but it looks like you may be cutting with your torch too high from the material.

What amperage were you using to cut that?

If your cutting at 85 amps the proper torch to work distance will be different than if you chose to cut it at 105 amps. Determining from the cut charts the proper height and actually pausing the machine mid cut to measure it (rather than just trusting your machine has the torch at the correct height) is important.

I like to do straight line cuts to get my height tweaked just perfect before cutting production parts.

Pics of all 4 sides of the part will also help us to determine what the cause may be.

Well don't i feel a complete dumbass...
I had a fine cut 45A tip in the damn thing ..

Sorry for wasting ya time guys ......

I am sure there will be some more dumbass mistakes by yours truly..

Ah right on, that could do it, glad you found a simple fix. Are your cuts looking much better now?

Understandable but I think everyone on here has done something similar or worse at some point. Lot of variables to get things working right and it's tough to remember them all, particularly if your new to the game.

I forget to turn on the compressor sometimes and chase my tail looking for why my cuts are crap or i lose flame or whatever...
