Since you are so far away from the US, I would think it wise to order some spares to have on hand for the future - motors, belts, bearings, etc. I am in the US and have pretty quick access to parts from Plasmacam, but I do keep at least one of everything on hand just in case. That includes spare controller, wiring harnesses, motors, encoders, carriage, gantry, gear racks, etc. Pretty much a complete spare table.

That is a good idea, except that the cost of shipping those parts to Australia would be 'YUGE! :Wow

I bundled a rail riser kit into a small shoe box to mail to Australia. The cost was nearly $2,000.00(us) with the exchange rate, and insured shipping was nearly $800.00

Needless to say, the customer declined the sale.

I routinely ship via USPS Priority Mail International Large Flat Rate box to Australia. The size of the box is 12x12x6 and weight limit is 20 lbs. Cost is $103.79 plus approx. $20 per $1000 of insured value. This would be perfect for shipping a controller, spare motors, encoders, belts, etc. The trick would be to get Plasmacam to ship with USPS at that price. I use Stamps.com.

How long does it take to get something to a customer in Australia?
